Bali : risque élevé d’éruption volcanique

A plus de 3.000 mètres d’altitude, le mont Agung laisse échapper une fumée blanche qui s’épaissie depuis quelques jours. Des vapeurs d’acide sulfurique ont été relevées dans les nuages par la surveillance satellite.

Le mont Agung est situé à environ 75 kilomètres des destinations touristiques de Kuta et Seminyak. Le nombre d’habitants évacués sur l’île indonésienne de Bali a dépassé les 140.000 personnes.

Les volcanologues indonésiens ont fait part de leur inquiétude ce vendredi 29 septembre 2017. L’activité sismique enregistrée ce jour laisse penser que le volcan balinais pourrait entrer en éruption très prochainement.

The Center for Vulcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) raised the status of Mount Agung from Level II (Alert) to Level III (Standby Alert) on 18 September following reports of increased seismic activity. Residents and tourists are warned to stay at least six kilometres from the crater and 7.5 kilometres away to the north, south-east and south-west.
