The laborers earn around 2000-3000 Myanmar kyats (1.5 to 2.2 US dollar) on average from eight hours working at the brick kiln. According to the Myanmar Poverty Assessment released in December 2017 by the Myanmar Ministry of Planning and Finance and the World Bank, about 32.1 percent (15.8 million people) of Myanmar's population are in poverty despite the fact that poverty has declined significantly since 2004, from 48.2 percent.
