According to the United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF, over 11 million children – 80 per cent of all children in the country – require humanitarian assistance, nearly 400,000 severe acutely malnourished children fight for their lives and an additional 1.8 to 2.8 million children are in acute food insecurity as the ongoing conflict causes food and fuel prices to soar across in the war-torn and impoverished Arab country.
